The members of the Tassie Association are a dedicated bunch of sailors who are hoping to increase the size of the fleet in Tasmania. They are very supportive to new owners as well as welcoming any new crews. The J24 is a very popular boat for competitive class racing and social and sail training boat. It is ideal for families, females and young sailors stepping up from dinghies or syndicate ownership. It is a very affordable competitive class boat. The class rules are strict and this keeps both older and newer boats level pegging. They are also a good class to progress on a State, National and International levels. They are sailed in 27 countries with over 5200 boats being launched in the last 30 years and new boats continue to be built although second hand boats are more common, better priced and more available.
J24 races consist of a mixture of windward leeward courses as well as the occasional long distance race.
