2026 J24 Hodges Sandringham Australian Championship – Regatta Round Up

With bush fires ranging throughout Victoria and a Westerly change at gale force, another abandonment was decreed by Race Committee, ending the Regatta.
Fortunately after 2 racing days and 6 races we were able to declare the winners of each division.
With lots of time to socialise along with photos, steak sandwiches and drinks from the bar, many a story was shared spreading the J24 love amongst the crews from Victoria, interstate and of course our guests from China, Japan and USA. So many g...
2026 J24 Hodges Sandringham Australian Championship
Day 3 Gale warning on the bay today, 43 degrees of blazing heat with many uncontrolled bush fires raging. No sailing.
Our thoughts go out to those who have life and property threatened by the catastrophic conditions and the CFA, SES and Emergency services working tirelessly fighting the bush fires. Hopefully the Westerly change that came through last night will allow for some containment of the uncontrolled fires. Day 4 is an early start to try to get ra...

Highlights of the day included Amuse Bouc...
Australian National Champs Day 1
Well didn’t Melbourne turn it on. 41 degrees with a Northerly building and gusting over 20knots. Fortunately on the water was the coolest place to be.
The day started with a briefing from Race Management followed by an acknowledgment of the recent passing of our beloved longtime Australian j24 President Steve Wright.
Steve’s trimmer Ian Goodbury (now skipper on Steve’s boat Tinto for the Regatta) spoke of Steve’s love for the sailing community and his desire for his crew along with his wif...
The day before the National Champs start !
So here we are on the eve of the 2026 J24 Australian J24 Championship (doubling as the Epigen Worlds selection trials) with 27 entries. Teams are from QLD, NSW, SA, WA & three international skippers (USA, Japan & China). All boats are now rigged, tuned, measured, polished, in the pond and ready to rumble.
Yesterday the conversation was all about rig tune, final practice and deep data analysis on weather forecast.
Today there was only one question on everyone’s lips, when can my cre...
